Clara Magalhães –
I just received my book. Looove it! The quality of the paper is even better than I expected. The square format is visually appealing. The text are both in Portuguese and English but they are easily readable. Now I’m starting my travel using the eyes and colours of Luis. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Claudio Costa –
Luis had a dream: to go around the world, sketching whatever caught his eyes, and whatever his heart and brushes were able to put on paper.
He started this fabulous journey in 2012, from his Portuguese homeland, and over 15 months he discovered (along with his parents!) the old continent – Europe. In this 1st volume he shares many of the sketches done in this leg of the trip in a curious storytelling style, somewhat of a travelling comic book documentary.
One can see many journeys in the journey: the physical one (going through some 20 countries), the inner one (rediscovering the relationship parents/son, being caught by one of Eros’ gold-tipped arrows, dealing with the rollercoaster of emotions of long-term travel) and the artistic one (meeting other urban sketchers, improving the technique, discovering his artistic voice).
This is more than a travel journal, it is a book that depicts the art of travel (see what I did there?) and the journey of the traveller in his first steps out of the mother(land)’s wings. Plus it has been done independently, which makes it even more special. Do get your hands on one of the copies!
