Engine

The BEEQ M500 Wild powered by BROSE DRIVE S 250W motor with 90 N torque and 380% assistance is a game-changer for eBikes. This motor is like a superhero that exceeds all expectations, especially compared to its predecessor, the BEEQ C500 Trekking eBike. It’s as if the motor never sleeps, never slows down, and always has your back. No more pesky stops to wait for the engine to cool down – this motor is like the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps going and going.

Batteries

Ah, the eternal struggle of battery life – it’s like playing a game of chess, always trying to stay one step ahead. After experiencing the heartbreak of running out of juice during the Bike & Sketch Portugal Tour in 2021, we knew we had to make some changes for the 2022 tour. We brought extra batteries to ensure that we could ride for hours on end without worrying about our trusty steed losing its power.

Of course, this decision did come at a cost – poor Anisa had to carry an extra 6 kg of Snake Batteries in her panniers, but hey, sacrifices must be made for the sake of adventure. With our battery game strong, we were able to enjoy the tour to the fullest and soak up all the stunning scenery that Portugal has to offer.

Tires

The CONTINENTAL Mountain King 27,5×2.6” tires performed like a dream, taking us on a wild ride through mixed trails without skipping a beat. We’ve had other tires of the same brand in the past, but they went bald faster than a cue ball in a barbershop. These Mountain King tires, on the other hand, are still going strong after over 3000 km of wear and tear. It’s like they’re indestructible.

What we like most

The BEEQ M500 Wild is like the 4×4 of eBikes – it’s the ultimate off-road machine that’ll take you to places you never thought possible on a bike. It’s like having your own personal mountain goat, effortlessly tackling any obstacle in its way. What we would change

Tires

Let’s face it – the BEEQ M500 Wild isn’t your average city bike. While it’s definitely fun to take it for a spin through the concrete jungle, it’s like bringing a racehorse to a petting zoo – it’s built for bigger and better things. When we hit the asphalt with those 27.5×2.6” wheels, we felt like we were dragging an anchor behind us. But take this bad boy out on the trails, and you’ll feel like you’re riding on clouds.

For those who are planning a long haul through mixed terrain, we’d recommend swapping out those 27.5″ wheels for some beefier 29″ ones. Trust us, your tushy will thank you later. But if you’re in the mood for some Cross Country riding or just want to test your limits on the toughest routes, the BEEQ M500 Wild is the perfect partner in crime. So go ahead, channel your inner adventurer and take this baby out for a spin – your sense of adventure will thank you.

Also, taking out the CONTINENTAL Mountain King 27,5×2.6 tires can be quite the struggle, especially when we were in the middle of a bike tour and desperately trying to fix a pesky pinch. Despite their outstanding performance on mixed trails, these tires can prove to be quite the challenge to remove when dealing with a flat tire. But with a little bit of elbow grease, some patience, and a few choice words, Luís could finally get them off and get back on the road in no time.

Weight

The BEEQ M500 Wild is a powerhouse of an eBike, there’s no denying it. But let’s be real – at approx. 26 kilograms, it’s no lightweight. When you’re three months into a bike tour and every extra gram feels like a ton, those extra few kilos can really start to wear you down.

That being said, we understand that with great power comes great responsibility – and sometimes, that responsibility comes in the form of a few extra pounds. But we’re optimistic that BEEQ can find a way to shed some of that weight without sacrificing any of the power or resilience that makes the M500 Wild such a great ride. We’re dreaming of a day when we can enjoy all the benefits of this incredible eBike without feeling like we’re hauling around a small elephant. Until then, we’ll just have to keep dreaming and pedaling.
